The Angus Coastal Route in a motorhome hire

motorhome hire

Stunning coastlines, spectacular castles, top rate golf and two of the most stylish cities in Scotland await you when you explore the Angus Coastal Route in a motorhome.

While the North Coast 500 might get a lot of press, the Angus Coastal Route boasts 58 miles of equally beautiful beaches and gorgeous landscapes, and is convenient to Edinburgh, where you will pick up your motorhome hire at Roseisle. Starting in Dundee, the Coastal Route takes you north, through the charming seaside towns of Broughty Ferry, Inverbervie, Stonehaven and Carnoustie, and ends in Aberdeen.

Motorhome hire and RSS Discovery

Stock up on supplies in Dundee, known as the sunniest city in Scotland, and take time for a stroll along the beautifully developed River Tay waterfront and visit the RSS Discovery.

Head north on the A92 in your campervan and soon you will reach Carnoustie, home of one of the world’s most famous golf courses. We recommend booking a tee time to avoid disappointment, especially in summer. Tee times can be booked on the Championship Course, Burnside Course or Buddon Links Course- or go for the combination ticket and immerse yourself in one of the best golf experiences on Earth!

The next area to explore in your motorhome is the famous town of Arbroath, home of the world renowned smokies- that’s haddock dried in salt and smoked over oak and beech chips over whisky barrels. Be sure to stock up on some to enjoy and explore the picture perfect harbour.

Lunan Bay in a motorhome hire

The next stop is Lunan Bay, voted one of the best beaches in Scotland, where you can camp and soak up some of the sun the area is famous for. Right outside your door is Lunan’s long sweep of sugar sand beach- but inside your luxury motorhome hire, you have all the comforts of home.

Heading north, the next item on our Angus Coastal Route bucket list is the amazing Dunnottar Castle. Located south of Stonehaven, it is perched high above the North Sea atop 200 feet high sea cliffs and can be reached from the visitors’ parking lot. However, we suggest parking at Stonehaven and walking the three-mile cliff side path to the castle, where you will get the best views. You can take a land train back again to your motorhome hire.

Your final destination is Aberdeen, where the vibrant culture, shopping and night life is one of the finest in Scotland. Most any time of year you will find a festival going on, not to mention fine dining, world class shopping and live music.

If you are looking for a shorter motorhome hire holiday that ticks all the boxes, we recommend The Angus Coastal Route!
